Summary
Operational guidance for managing limited resources during deployment while preserving the ability to complete the assigned objective.
Purpose
Resources available during an operation are finite. LOG therefore prioritises mission completion, operational continuity and flexibility over unnecessary accumulation.
Resource Priority
01 — Mission Essential
Resources directly required to complete the current objective.
02 — Operational Sustainment
Resources required to remain effective during the deployment.
03 — Contingency
Resources retained for unexpected changes in operational conditions.
04 — Non-Essential
Resources with no immediate operational requirement.
Management Principle
"Possession does not equal utility." Personnel should periodically reassess available resources rather than carrying everything simply because it is available. A resource that prevents the completion of the primary objective should not be prioritised over the objective itself.
Logistics Review
At the conclusion of a deployment, personnel should review: - resources consumed - resources retained - equipment that proved unnecessary - equipment that was unavailable when required - preparation issues encountered before deployment This information may be used to improve future deployment configurations.
